CHICO SENIOR SOFTBALL CLUB, INC. PLAYING RULES

WELCOME

Welcome to the Chico Senior Softball Club leagues. We sincerely hope you enjoy meeting old friends on the field of competition. May you have the kind of experience that will bring you back for years to come. Many volunteers and officials work hard to provide you an enjoyable time. We ask that you respect their efforts and show good sportsmanship toward them and all your fellow athletes.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

The Chico Senior Softball Club provides an opportunity for individuals with like interests to pursue athletic sport activities. Through the organization of draft leagues, our Senior Softball Program provides the senior community an arena for competition, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

OUR GOALS

To establish rules and regulations for the league(s), officials, teams, players, and spectators
To provide balanced competition to the extent of available facilities and number of teams.
To provide control of play through acceptance of game rules adopted by Chico Senior Softball Club,
To bring together seniors with like interests, for fun and fellowship.

THE CSSCI PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The President or his Designee acts as the League Director. The League Director and the Board of Directors act as all committees and commissioners of leagues that are not otherwise appointed and active. They are the final decision on all matters regarding the operation of the league(s). Further they understand that:
not all situations are foreseeable and personal judgment will be needed.
conditions beyond their control may change or revise the league schedule.
they will determine all rules and regulations and reserve the right to establish or suspend regulations
at any time deemed necessary for efficient operation of the league.
they will interpret all rules and regulations as deemed necessary to ensure a smooth and consistent
program in keeping with the standards and intent of fair play.
they have the option of moving players to whatever team deemed in the best interest of providing a
balanced program.
The League Director has the responsibility for all decisions and rulings. The Board of Directors may be petitioned in writing to protest a ruling by the league director or his representatives.

PLAYING RULE CHANGES

Club Playing Rules will remain in effect during the season. These rules may be changed during the season only if they are found to be ineffective or create a hazard to any player. Changes must be submitted to the Rules Committee, if active, in writing, for review, and then approved by the Board of Directors.

GAME OFFICIALS

It is easier to obtain teams than good game officials. Unethical action by manager or players may cause excellent officials to leave officiating. And consequently, there may be a shortage of game officials.

It is unsportsmanlike conduct for anyone associated with the league to attempt to influence the decision of an official, or disrespectfully address an official, or object to an official's decision in an inappropriate manner. Team members and especially the manager have the responsibility of making certain that conduct by participants is professional and respectful at all times.

Criticism of officials by managers and players both on and off the area of play is not allowed. During the game, the attitude of the managers and players toward officials shall be controlled and undemonstrative. To openly criticize officials or to indicate dissatisfaction with decisions does nothing but incite other players and spectators and bring discredit to the manger, his team, and the game.
There is no place in athletic sports for the unethical or disrespectful player. Unsportsmanlike conduct is contrary to the basic principles of athletic sports and the Chico Senior Softball Club.
